PROJECT ABSTRACT
SUU Pilot Abroad Program
Aviation Abroad will seek to provide an opportunity for aviation students to see the industry from a global perspective. Students who meet program qualifications will travel to a partnership school in and complete a minimum of 6 credit hours in the classroom learning meteorology, aerodynamics, aviation law etc. These students will finish the minimum 12 credit hour requirement by participating in an elective class and a flight lab to gain flight experience from international instructors.

PROJECT GOALS
Utah, Brisbane, London
I created a template for new international aviation courses which will include flight time in the curriculum and will also be compatible with other schools after applying minor changes. I was able to achieve this goal by meeting with the study abroad faculty here at SUU and figuring out what existing partnerships we have around the world. Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia was the school that was chosen to attempt the program. This university was selected due to its existing partnership with SUU and the ability for students to pay SUU directly for all courses taken at the foreign university. I then found a helicopter flight school nearby that would be able to take on the appropriate amount of students from our school and would be able to send some to the United States as well.Â
This was only the beginning as I duplicated the process with a flight school and university in London. One of the great things about this program is that it is scalable to other universities. Regent's University and HeliAir were selected to make the program a success in the United Kingdom.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
Brochures
Two program brochures were created to get the word out about the program. The brochures give school information, program information, and a brief description of what is required to participate in SPAP. A course list will also be available detailing all classes that can be taken to meet the requirements of the universities.
